LR (Lynne-Rachel) Altman’s work is about a fragile beauty of broken togetherness. Inspired by contemporary psychology, she uses particles of glass frit fused together in a kiln to create sculpture and wall pieces exploring trauma and attachment theories. Her abstract paintings, based on internal family systems therapy, are comprised of separate parts and depict integration of fragmented psyches. With a focus on healing, Altman’s skillful use of color, light, and flow invite us along a centering uplifting journey.
A Bay Area native affiliated with The Crucible, Altman has exhibited her fine art in a number of national and international venues and has produced public art and architectural commissions. Altman is an experienced teaching artist and glass designer, holds an MFA in Sculpture and Glass (with Distinction) from CCA(C), and has received fellowships, grants, and awards for her outstanding work.
