John Sheridan was born in Detroit and left medical school to follow the unknown, creative path of art. He has worked in painting, video, film, performance art and collage. He is now creating hard-hitting sculpture taking on America's love of gun violence, militarism and money using an emotionally intuitive combination of found objects, models and action figures that is nonetheless powerful art.
His fascination with the profound results he saw in other artists' work leads him to seek that same level and to use art to develop, integrate and focus his vision, thought, emotion, personality, integrity and the physical world. Taking as a starting point the culture he found himself in he is moving from what he has known to what he does not yet know.
He has won several competitive jurors' awards for painting. He is in the process of developing more opportunities for all artists to show their work.
