Clyde Always—surrealist artist and storyteller—manipulates inks and acrylics into works of modern urban-American beauty with a purely eclectic style. Lingering deep in the essence of each dreamscape is a tall tale inviting the viewer to tell it.
Although he began his career as a visual artist in childhood, he first rose to prominence on the stage, performing original works of verse in venues throughout San Francisco, and he used his artistic talents to create unique sets and props. To the delight of his fans, he soon thereafter began to produce works of literature (jampacked with illustrations). In all of his creative endeavors, Mr. Always seeks to outshine the nihilistic despair which prevails today with the light of Romanticism and humor.
His act can be viewed any Friday evening at the Scott Street Labyrinth where he serves his community as the ringleader of the riotous Lower Haight Open Mic.
